10lbs of disapointment for StoikosSept. 19 1998John Stoikos finished in 7th place at the Commonwealth Games men's hammer on Saturday. Stoikos contracted a stomach flu of sorts while in the athletes village in Kuala Lumpur and lost ten pounds in the process. He was never able to fully recover and the impact was evident when he managed a throw of only 65.07, a throw just over 20cm longer than what he threw in Victoria in 1994 and finishing in the same position. This ended an otherwise spectacular season for Stoikos as he threw over 70m on 7 different occasions and threatened the Canadian Record with a throw of 70.60m. CWG Men's hammer 1.
