THROWING NEWSGold Medal for Snyder at Pan Am Juniors Trevor Snyder has set the standard for the Canadian throwers at the Pan American Junior Championships with a gold medal in men's javelin. His throw of 74.06 is just shy of Scott Russel's Candian Junior record of 75.46 set in 1998. This result also keeps his 11th spot ranking in the world and adds to an already impressive outdoor season. The Windsor Legion Track Club member, presently training in Georgia finished second at the Canadian Seniors with a personal best throw of 73.80 and won the Canadian Juniors as well. Snyder was also a member of the team to the Jeux de la Francophie. In other Canadian throws results Angela Machaj of Club Sisu finished fourth with a throw of 41.80 in women's discus while Laura Lauzon was ninth with 32.25. In Men's shot put, Jeffey Chakouian was the front leader with a national junior record of 19.92. Canadians Jeremy Edwards of the Prince George Track Club was eigth with a throw of 14.20 while Jonathan Doucette of the Chinook Track Club was tenth with 13.41.
