Provincial Record for RisteNov 28 1999Erin Riste of the Chinook Track Club established a new provincial junior record in the women's weight throw on her first outing of the season. Competing at the Edmonton Last Chance meet Riste tossed the weight out to 14.26 to win the event and to better by two meters the previous record established by Jennifer Danilowich last winter. Liz McBlain came within 2cm of the Canadian Masters record in the weight throw when she threw 9.52m to finish second at the meet. Riste also finished second in the open women's shot put. Winning the open women's shot put was Alison Mohn of the University of Alberta with a personal best throw of 12.02m. On the men's side, Ian Maplethorpe of Leduc Alberta won the open men's weight throw with a toss of 18.46. Finishing second and third repectively were Kyle Stone and Mike Sagert of the University of Lethbridge. In men's Shot Put, Decathlete Jason Woycheshyn of the University of Alberta finished first with a personal best of 14.09. In second was junior Fesaitu Inoke who is a Grant Macewan student competing for the University of Alberta Track Club. In third was Mike Sagert. The first edition of the CanThrow Rankings are now available at http://www.canthrow.com/rankings.shtml. This year we will be trying to keep tabs on clubs that the thrower is from and will have a master list of the clubs at the top of the rankings. We will also compile a ranking of clubs when the final athlete rankings are compiled at the end of the season. We will update this list as the season goes on as well.
