Russian Hammer Throwing Clinic

The Ottawa Lions Track and Field Club is sponsoring a coaching clinic from July 29th to August 2nd on Russian hammer throwing. The clinic is directed at coaches and will focus on hammer technique and training methods. Nine hands-on technical sessions will guide you on to throw and teach hammer. Nine theoretical sessions will give you valuable knowledge on biomechanics, training preparation, complex training, periodization and specific strength training. Any person taking this course will find that their knowledge of hammer has increased tenfold.

Where: Ottawa, Canada
When: July 29th to August 2nd
Course Fee: $300 US.
Instructors: Boris Zaitchouk and Joe Burke

Boris Zaitchouk was the first man to throw 80 meters and a National Hammer Coach in Russia. He had direct responsibility for throws at the Central Trade Union Sports Club in Moscow. He coached 15 athletes over 75 meters and 3 over 80 meters. Boris received his coaching training at the famous Moscow Central Sports and Physical Culture University.

Joe Burke is a throws coach with the Ottawa Lions for over 25 years. " I have been coaching hammer throwers for over 15 years and have coached a Canadian national hammer champion. However, it was not until I started working with Boris that I realized how much I had to learn. This clinic is set for 5 days because no weekend clinic will teach you what you need to know much less be able to absorb it. We hope you will want to come to our clinic and we know that your experience with us will make a real difference in your program"

To insure a high quality experience the clinic is limited to a total of 16 participants( 2 groups of eight).
