Jan Zelezny to compete in five meetings before Sydney

10 May 2000 – Prague – The Czech Republic’s most famous javelin thrower and double Olympic champion Jan Zelezny, announced on Wednesday that he would only compete in five meetings in the lead up to the Olympic Games this September.

The 33-year-old will commence his outdoor season in Prague on 5 June at the Memorial Josef Odlozil meeting, which will be followed by a meeting in Kuortane (Finland) on 24 June.

He has not planned to take part in this years edition of the meeting in Iena (Germany) on 3 June, where he set the world record (98.48m) which still stands today.
