Javelin to Highlight Record International!June 2 1999Record International! Information/Entries In just its second year of hosting some of the throwing events, The Kitchener Record is really putting itself on the map with the throws community. This year the Record expanded the throwing events offerd last year to include the shot for both men and women. "Hopefully, the committee will allow us to add the hammer for both men and women next year" says Laurel Creek Throws coach and The Record Throws coordinator. This year's Record will be highlighted by one of the most competitive javelin fields seen in Canada, outside of the '94 Commonwealth Games. The men's javelin field will consist of 3 American throwers including 2 time World Record holder Tom Petranoff! It certainly will be an exciting event, with 5 of the throwers boasting personal bests of over 75m!" This year's field will also have 4 time Canadian Champion and current Canadian Record holder Erin Bevens from BC Athletics. Bevens won the inaugural Record Men's javelin last year and then went on to represent Canada in the CommonWealth Games. The Record International Track Meet will be held on June 12, and is hosted by The Laurel Creek Track & Field Club For just the 2nd year The Record International will be offering throws in this straight 8 final only elite competition. There are still a few spots left open in some of the events so enter now.
