Tough Weekend For LCTCJan 6 1999The weekend of Dec 19th took its toll on LCTC throws squad with two of its athletes suffering injuries. First Coach Rich Parkinson tears pec major on his first throw while competing in the shot at the Unversity of Windsor Christmas Open. MRI shows a partial tear that doctors hope will heal through rehab. A second MRi on Jan 7th has been scheduled to decide if rehab is working or surgrey will be required. Rich expects to be out of full training for min of six weeks and if surgrey is required at least six months and altimately retiremnt from the sport. On the Sunday, returning home from Christmas shopping in Brantford with friends, Lianne Coombe lost control of the family van when she hit a patch of black ice. The van ended up in the ditch after rolling. Coombe was hospitalized for head and neck injuries. No one else was in the van at the time of the accident and is unknown at this time when Coombe will resume training. Coombe added' " that she feels very lucky, all the shots , discus and weights were flying all about as the van did at least three turns". We wish a speedy recovery to both athletes.
