IPC World Championships ResultsJan 6 1999Sport for Disabled Ontario has officially put out the results for the IPC World Championships- Athletics held in August 1998 in Birmingham England, where Canada place 4th out of 61 Countries. Sport By Ability Niagara sent 2 Athletes to represent our club and our country Canada. Here are their outstanding results. A Canadian Record was set by Rick Gronman in mens 5K Shot Put bringing home a Bronze medal with a distance of 11.61m. Rick Gronman Broke the Canadian record twice this year (1998) and he is currently ranked in the top 3 in the World. Rick was recognized on November 14th, 1998 at the Awards Banquet, held at the Regal Constellation Hotel. Rick received the Edna Peace Award, which is given to the Outstanding Ontario Male/Female Senior Athlete of the Year. Shane Risto took home 2 bronze medals (shot put & discus) as well as a silver medal in javelin.
