Kitchener/Waterloo, Ont., Dec 11th, 1998 - The Laurel Creek Track Club held its annual awards banquet on Saturday night, where a host of awards where given out including the male and female athelet of the year. This year's fenmale athlete of the year went to junior thrower Lianne Coombe.
Throwing awards went to:
Male Thrower of the Year - Randy Johnson for winning his fourth straight conference title.
Female Thrower of the Year - Lianne Coombe - Ofssa Champion (shot), National Junior Champion (shot), National Junior Team, 5th at Canadian Seniors, national rankings; Junior - shot indoor & Outdoor #1, Dsicus #2' Seniors- Shot #8, Dsicus -#6.
Laurel Creek also recognises its club athletes who either made a national final or were ranked in the Top 10 national.
