Tunks withdraws from World CupAugust 31 1998Canada's lone entry in the throws at the World Cup is withdrawing from the competition. Jason Tunks, presently ranked 7th in the world will not compete at the World Cup to be held later in September. "I have bone spurs in my ankle that keep flaring up a well as a very sore back that keeps coming back and I feel I am not ready menatally for a meet such as World cup" says Tunks. I have not had alot of very good practises by my standard, and my body is giving out, so the last thing I need to do is travel to KL, then travel to South africa, and back to KL to "try to win". Tunks will, however, be prepared to win gold at the Commonwealth Games and will get ready for next year when he will be better prepared to take on the world in Seville Spain. Earlier in the year Tunks established a new Canadian record of 67.88m to earn him his present ranking of 7th in the world.
