Another Weekend of Personal BestsApril 27 1998Liz Toman and Ruth Conlon led another streak of personal bests this past weekend. Toman threw 49.74m on her way to a score of 4915pts in the heptathlon and also had a 13.62m shot put result. She then went on to win the individual event javelin with a toss of 47.14m. Meanwhile, at the Penn State Relays Ruth Conlon won the College section Hammer throw with a pb of 54.02m. This moves her sixth spot on the Canadian All Time list for women's hammer throw. Michelle Fournier who is third on the all time list had another throw over 55m as she threw 55.08m in the University section of the Penn State Relays. The top five all time throws are now as follows: 1. 59.32 Caroline Wittrin 1998 2. 56.26 Theres Brick 1993 3. 55.72 Patti Pilsner Steinke 1998 4. 55.70 Michelle Fournier 1998 5. 55.44, Cathy Griffin 1992 6. 54.02 Ruth Conlon 1998 Jason Gervais also attained a huge pb when he threw 60.70m in mens discus in Scottsdale Arizona. His throw bettered the 59.00m minimum standard for Discus for the Commonwealth Games. This also established a new JUCO National Record. Also coming close to her personal best was Vicki Webb who threw 43.21m in javelin. Her personal best is 43.84m which was achieved in 1995 and she is ready for a fresh season after finishing sixth at the 1997 Canadian Junior championships. In other Results Scott Russell broke the 70m barrier for a second time this season as he threw 70.88m and Randy Johson threw 66.68m to move from 5th to third in the Foot Locker National Throws Rankings Make sure sure your results are included in the Foot Locker National Throws Rankings.
