Canadian Record For WittrinApril 20 1998Competing at the MT. SAC relays in the invitational women's hammer, Caroline Wittrin upped her Canadian record and closed in on the Commonwealth Games A standard when she threw 59.32m. Her entry into the Foot Locker National rankings is just below the A standard for the Commonwealth games which is 60m. Wittrin has attatined the B standard of 57m which will place her in the selection pool for the games. This improved upon her 58.94m record throw from the Canadian National Championships in August of 1997. Wittrin will likely be the first Canadian woman to break the 60m barrier as it will likely only be a matter of time before she throws over 60m and achieves the A standard. Watch this site for an upcoming in-depth interview with Caroline who is leading the way for the future of Canadian women hammer throwers. Other results from the weekend included other great performances in Hammer.
