Snyder Shoots A Canadian RecordApril 19 2001
(Toronto, ON) If Brad Snyder (Windsor, ON) continues throwing at this
record pace, he will rewrite the Canadian record books this summer. On
Saturday, April 14th, at the Sea Ray Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee,
Snyder set a new *Canadian record in the men's shot put.* Pending ratification His second throw, measured at 20.79, bettered the previous Canadian record of 20.61 set in Knoxville, in 1983, by Bruno Pauletto. "I have watched him throw for several years and I have never seen him look better", states Brad's father Darryl Snyder. "That is the first time that Brad has ever had all six [throws] over 20 metres." Snyder's toss also moves him up among the world leaders. He stands second on the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) Outdoor Top List, behind Russian Burger Lambrechts (20.90). Only four other shot putters have managed to clear the 20 m barrier this season. "It was the best throwing day of my life", proclaims Snyder, who was thrilled with his performance. "The best move so far, however, was making the move to Georgia to train with my new coach, Don Babbitt, and new training partners, who have helped me push myself to that next level".
