LEGENDS MEET INFORMATIONLEGENDS OF THE PLAINS RECORDSONLINE ENTRY FORM LEGENDS OF THE PLAINS INTERNATIONAL COACHING SEMINAR Task 10 " Biomechanical Analysis of Throwing Events" And its Practical Application to Discus Technique The National Coaching Institute and Athletics Canada will be delivering Level 4 Task 10 " Biomechanical Analysis of Throwing Events " at this year's " Legends of the Plains International Throwing Meet ", July 6 - 9, 2000 in Winnipeg. Dr. Marion Alexander will be the instructor and coaches will get a hands - on opportunity to film and analyze their athletes in action. This task will include a discussion of the applications of biomechanical principles to throwing events in track and field as well as a discussion of current biomechanical studies on throwing events. We will utilize the lab and video equipment from the National Coaching Institute and the Human Performance Institute to allow each coach to film the athletes they coach and the final assessment of competency will be based upon the coach's biomechanical analysis of their own athlete, including the film analysis and application of biomechanical principles to throwing technique. Coaches Tentative Schedule: July 5 - 6:00pm - TWILIGHT SERIES - U of M Stadium (Optional) July 6 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Classroom and Lab work at the University of Manitoba - 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Discus Technical Session Presenter - TBA July 7 - 8:30 am to 11:30 am Film analysis and explanation of assignment July 7 - 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm < Day One Events - individual filming July 8 " Legends of the Plains International Meet - individual filming July 9 8:30 am to 10:30 am - Working breakfast - Biomechanics Lab Initial Analysis of Coaches Film 11:00 am Quadathlon and " Legendary / Masters Competition" 2:00 pm Barbecue and Awards Presentations
OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED COACHES AND ATHLETES. Level 4 credit upon completion of final analysis and approval of Athletics Canada.
