Kennedy Relays 50th Anniversary DATE: May 7, 1999. TIME: 5:30 PM VENUE: Windsor Stadium, Windsor,Ontario. EVENTS: Elite Mile, Masters Mile, High School (hurdles, half-mile, mile, 100 yd. dash, DMR, 4 x 440, 4x 110, javelin, shot put) ENTRIES: By e-mail to hnidei@wincom.net OR garymall@wincom.net This is one of the oldest track and field meets still going in the province. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary, we have returned to Imperial distances and we are offering an elite mile race with free entry to athletes capable of running sub 4:00(male) and sub 5:00 (female) 1500 metre pace. Cash awards of $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded to 1st through 3rd in these races along with special commemorative awards of the 50th Anniversary running of the meet and an invitation to the post-meet reception. Windsor Stadium is a 6 lane cinder track. The meet record for the Elite male mile was set in 1954 by Joe Lubina of the University of Michigan (4:21.0) Many high school meet records exist from the 1960's, most notably the outstanding 1:51.7 half mile run by Ray Tucker of Hamilton-Westdale in 1964.
