ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM2000 Flagstaff Camp ProgramPrintable Pre-registration formHigh Altitude Competition Series, Camp ProgramFlagstaff, Arizona, July 1 - July 9, 2000Competition Program Meet #1 - Monday July 3rd Meet #2 - Tuesday July 4th Meet #3 - Thursday July 6th Meet #4 - Saturday July 8th Events - Sprints, Hurdles, Relays, Jumps and Throws Relays - Men and women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays will be offered at the end of Meet #3 Location - The campus of Northern Arizona University, hosted by the High Altitude Sports Training Complex (HASTC) and Athletics Canada. Overall Camp Objectives To provide a significant international performance opportunity to developing international and national level athletes under ideal competition conditions. To foster a healthy international exchange of ideas, educational opportunity and social interaction between the coaches and athletes of Canada, the United States and NACAC Regional Associations. To provide a competitive time frame in the hosting of this annual Meet Series that can best prepare athletes in the North American environment to acquire personal development for both national and international challenges to come. Camp Objectives' for 2000 To better prepare our Olympic A or A+ qualifiers for the Olympic Games and to offer a competitive opportunity to other athletes attempting to obtain the selection standards prior to the Olympic Trials. To capitalize on the high performance training and competition environment to provide coaching education to coaches working with athletes at the National level. To offer an opportunity for other national athletes to improve their personal or seasonal bests, national rankings and national or provincial assistance criteria. General Competition Information Be Our Guests Athletics Canada would like to extend the opportunity for athletes from the USA and NACAC to join our Canadian athletes in Flagstaff, Arizona. Our hosts at NAU specifically cater to our needs with full meet service and administrative support. This will be our 4th year at this site. Flagstaff has an altitude of 7000 feet or 2134 metres, the average temperature during this time is 25 C / 75 F. The athletics facility and field event areas are in excellent shape. The discus and shot circles have just been recently moved into the main stadium. Last summer's series saw over 200 athletes and coaches participate achieving close to forty personal bests. Coaching Education Component Throughout the 9-day competition and training camp, learning opportunities will be provided for coaches in the following ways: . Event group specific video and LAVEG laser data analysis of athlete's performances . Specific event-group round-table discussions . Speed and Power Event Group related topics such as Nutrition, and Supplements, Long Term Athlete Development and Training, Strength and Proprioception Training, Psychology, how to break into the European athletic fixtures circuit, and Biomechanics led by experts in the field . Information on the domestic Canadian Speed Power program will be provided for the purpose of long term athlete and coach planning Athlete focussed seminars will also be provided and all athletes will be invited to participate in the seminars or coach education seminars. Detailed information on these sessions will be provided closer to the event. The Meet Entry Standards Canadian Athletes: We offer this opportunity in 2000 to athletes ranked in the top 20 nationally in track events and in the top 10 in field events. USA & Guest Athletes: The following Minimum Entry Standards must be obtained or surpassed in 2000. We ask that athletes from the USA contact their respective National Development Chairs (Women & Men) to explore participation and funding questions. Athletes from other countries should contact Athletics Canada directly. Athletes can enter as many events as they wish but will then declare their intention to compete 30 min. prior to the start of each race or field event. Races will then be drawn at this time. All heats on the track will run fast to slow seeded sections. Athletes Camp Fee: $US 60.00 There will be no entry fees for these competitions, but rather a camp participation fee, which contributes towards the NAU hosting costs for our group. This fee supports the HASTC Service Fee, T-shirt, unlimited event entries, meet hosting expenses and use of the track and weight room for training sessions. This fee will be collected at the Camp Registration Desk in Flagstaff at the CAMP HEADQUARTERS on Sunday July 2 from 2:00 pm to 8pm and during daily meet registration. Cash (US Dollars) will only be accepted at this time. No one may compete in this series without proper camp registration.

Please see the funding support criteria if you think you are eligible for support. No organized ground transportation will be provided to persons arriving directly in Flagstaff or outside the specified arrival and departure dates. ARRIVAL: Everyone should plan on arrival into Phoenix on either June 30 (arrive anytime of the day or night) or July 1st (arrive during the day before 12:00 pm) DEPARTURE: Everyone should plan on a departure from Phoenix on either the LATE AFTERNOON or EVENING (Post 1:00 pm) of Sunday July 9th or on the MORNING of Monday July 10. CANADIAN ATHLETES & COACHES - To register for the camp: All persons must fill out a camp pre-registration form (see below) and send it via email or fax to the National Head Office (attention Derek Covington, Camp Director) as soon as you know your plans. The DEADLINE to confirm your attendance is Wednesday June 7th. If you plan to stay with us at the NAU Campus Dorms, you must also notify us at this time. Accommodation fees (dorms @ $ USD 22/night/person) will be payable in cash upon arrival at the Camp. After June 7 no further accommodations will be available at the NAU Campus and athletes and coaches will need to stay at local hotels. All hotel room arrangements will be the individual's responsibility in both Phoenix and Flagstaff. All National Team and carded athletes (please see funding support criteria below if you think you are eligible for support) will have their accommodation arrangements coordinated for them by Athletics Canada, if requested. Only these persons will receive funding support for accommodation. Ask which side of the Terminal the pick-up will be on! If you need to train, we are very close to Arizona State University. There are lots of shops and restaurants beside the hotel. Please have your luggage down in the Lobby area by 2:30 pm. If you are arriving by air during the day on July 1, make your way to the Mission Palms Hotel by no later than 2:30pm. The bus will depart from the hotel at 3:00pm sharp. This Bus Ride is FREE to ALL CANADIANS and $30.00 USD cash to all other athletes and coaches (round trip fee). This is payable at the time of registration for the Camp. The trip is about 3 hours and we will stop for 30 minutes at the half-way point. 6:30 pm: we arrive at the campus of NAU in Flagstaff and check into the Dorms or Hotels. The rest of the evening is yours. Persons departing the next day will check-in to the hotel.July 10: Final Camp Departures Athletics Canada Funding Support Carded athlete or Olympic Games A/A+ Qualifier between Apr 1, 99 - July 9, 00 You will receive full accommodation costs in Flagstaff (NAU Dorms) and in Phoenix if necessary. Your Camp Registration Fees will also be covered and a per diem for meals will be provided at the time of camp registration. Athletes who qualify for funding as a result of performances achieved during the camp will be reimbursed within 45 days after the conclusion of the camp. For all athletes in this funding category, air travel will be covered to a MAX of $500 ONLY Athletics Canada will book all air travel if requested by the athlete. Air travel requests must be received by the camp registration deadline (June 7, see form below) Air travel expenses over and above $500 will be invoiced to athletes on-site in Flagstaff (or deducted from athlete camp meal per diems) Athletes who wish to book their own air travel must respect the arrival and departure dates and times specified in this document in order to take advantage of the organized ground transportation. In order to receive air travel funding reimbursement, and if you want Athletics Canada to book your accommodation (Phoenix and Flagstaff), all athletes must complete the camp registration form by the registration deadline (see form below). You will be reimbursed for your air travel up to a maximum of $500.00 CDN. This expense claim (make sure you have a copy of your receipt) will be processed at the camp and the amount will be refunded to athletes by the end of August. For A and B carded athletes only, air flight expenses over and above $500.00 may be covered under your individual Elite Athlete Assistance budget (see separate document for applicable athletes) Coaches of Carded athletes or Olympic Games A/A+ Qualifiers - You will need to book and purchase your own travel arrangements.
