Carribbean Junior Dual Update



A week of fun and great international competition
in the Cayman Islands
against the best of the Carribbean!



Very soon Athletics Canada will publish selection criteria for this touring Team. It will not be open to members of the World Junior Team from Athletics Canada or the Carribbean Federations.

Head Coach Brian Risk will be working with National staff and Team staff to ensure that the entire week, culminating in a two day meet with Carribbean Selects, will be exciting, fun and a great opportunity to improve performances.

List of Events
(for both men and women)

100, 200, 400 100/110 H, 400H HJ, PV, LJ, TJ
800, 1500, 3000 steeple SP, DT, HT, JT

Team Canada will select 3 athletes per event. From this group we will form 4x100, Sprint Medley and Distance Medley Relay teams.


Cost

International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF), Athletics Canada and local revenues are anticipated to cover accommodation and food expenses. (This notice is pending final revenue confirmation.)

Basic uniforms will be supplied at no cost to the athlete.

Travel is at the expense of each athlete. (At this time we have an $883 estimate from Toronto via Miami. Cayman Airways is quoting a $437 price from Miami to Grand Cayman. We are working to bring travel cost down.)


Miscellaneous expenses and cost of recreational activities will be paid by each athlete.

Travel

Travel will take place on 3/4 August and return will be on 10 August.

At this time routing is being planned through Miami. Athletics Canada intends to make a block booking from Miami to the Cayman Islands. Athletes can use travel points or the cheapest routing that can be found from home to Miami, provided they arrive the evening of 3 August, or prior to 1800hrs on 4 August. Athletics Canada must approve all travel arrangements from home to Cayman Islands.
