This is my first time visiting this site. And it is one of the greatest sites. It has everything I ever wanted to know about the hammer throw (and other throwing events). I am a high school shot and discus coach in the enviable position of having 14 athletes competeing for the top two spots that earn participation in the large invitational and relay meets that make up the bulk of our schedule. My problem is keeping all these throwers active, enthused, and productive given the limited, one shot and one disc ring, facilities. Please any tips out there?

I am a parent of a 13 year old shot putter and discus thrower. It has been frustrating finding good information on throwing techniques and unfortunately her coach has not been a big help. I'm currently in my freshman year of highschool at 14. After 3 practices I still do not have the form for throwing shot put and discus so that I am able to throw at my full potention. This being my first experiece at track I find that everytime my coach makes a suggestion it only makes me more nevouse or confuses me and I throw even worse. When looking under the 1998 Canadian indoor shot rankings I noticed that the only distance you have recorded is my all time worst throw. I was just wondering as to why my alltime worst distance is recorded as aposed to my top distance for 1998? Which is 3 meters farther. All my throws were official and recorded at official meets therefor, I am just curious about the misinformation. I frequent this throws sight all the time and am pleased with what you have put together. Thank you very much for a reliable Throws site in which I can turn to.

I'm a former puter who was pushed out of the sport because of a knee injury. After just two years of throwing my best was 53'8". Now I'm going back to my old high school to coach. Hi, I am a Russian thrower currently studying in USA. I was happy to find another source of help here. This site is great.

I am seventeen years old, and train in Kingston Ontario. I just got back from the Pan-American Junior championships, in Havana Cuba. I train under Melody Torcolacci, and my personal best with the sixteen pound shot is 16.04m. I would love to hear from other throwers.
