Phase 1 - Preparation

Phase 1 - Preparation
Monday: Tuesday: Duration
Gym 3x10x Everything (Bodybuilding) Technique Co-ordination: 4 weeks
2 x Abdominal exercises warm up Glide drills with a bar
1 x Back exercise warm up and/or dumbbell on a gymnastic beam etc. Intensity
Increase load
+/- 300 Low impact jumps (contacts) every week
Wednesday: Thursday:
Sprints 60 glides with 6.8kg shot
Medicine Balls Massage
Power : various cleans & snatches
not too intensive
Friday: Saturday:
Same as Monday + Technique Co-ordination:
Cardiovascular training Various drills, on the beam etc.
Notes:
The beam drill is done on a gymnastic beam, I have also used a steeplechase beam (easier).
Try and glide as far as possible while still staying on the beam. The delivery part is done slow without
rotation of left and right leg. Take as much safety precautions as possible.
It can be done with a barbell in your right hand or a 20kg bar across your shoulders
